Interesting paper. I did not know that sugar played such an important role with infectious disease.
In 1954 I visited a psychiatrist in England who was using vitamins for treating toxic psychoses. He told me that he had just completed a controlled experiment with polio. He gave large doses of vitamin C to 35 children and used 35 as control. None of the children on the vitamin suffered any disability and I believe 4 or 5 from the control group did. I asked him whether he was gong to publish and he replied that he would not since he did not think any journal would accept it as the polio vaccine has just been announced and given world wide attention.
